Last week was a proud moment for the Indigo Wolf pack.
At the 2025 Torquay Business Awards, Indigo Wolf co-founder Nathan Sayers was named 2025 Business Leader of the Year. And while it was Nathan’s name called on the night, this award reflects the leadership and values that both our co-founders Nathan and Damian have built into Indigo Wolf since day one and our incredible team and community who continue to support us year after year.
Because Indigo Wolf was never just about custom sportswear. It was always about people. This award is a celebration of what we’ve built together over the last 15 years. It’s a massive win for the whole pack.
What the judges had to say
The judging panel recognised Indigo Wolf for more than just business performance.
Judge Greg Birchall shared:
“Our judging was centred around the quality of Indigo Wolf, the work that they do, their environmental sustainability record, and their community alertness and contribution. I gave Sayers 10 out of 10 for environmental sustainability, and I was very impressed by his community connection… This is no wasteful, fast fashion behemoth.”
We couldn’t ask for a better summary of what Indigo Wolf stands for.
From the shed to the stage
Indigo Wolf began in the back shed of Nathan’s parents’ farm in Modewarre, powered by home-cooked meals, late nights and a belief that school and sports gear could be done differently. Nathan and Damo combined their backgrounds in PE teaching, streetwear and recruitment to build a company with one goal – to create gear that means something.
Fifteen years later, we’re still based on the Surf Coast and now work with more than 3,000 schools and clubs across Australia. We’ve grown from garage beginnings into a national brand with local roots. Today, Indigo Wolf has offices in both Torquay and Wollongong, delivering fully custom, made-to-order sportswear from coast to coast.
Nathan reflects:
“This recognition is really about the people around me. From Damo and the team, to the teachers, parents and students we work with every day – they’re the reason we’ve grown the way we have. We’ve always been driven by purpose, not just profit.”
Building better, not just bigger
From the start, Indigo Wolf has chosen quality over quantity. We manufacture over 90 percent of our gear to order. That means less waste, better quality, and more meaningful design. We’ve eliminated swing tags, introduced compostable packaging, and work with recycled fabrics like REPREVE. This year, we also became an authorised supplier of Patagonia’s for schools and clubs, teaming up with one of the world’s most ethical brands.
We're proud to prove that quality, sustainability and design can go hand in hand.

Thank you
To Commerce Torquay: thank you for a brilliant, fun-filled night! We appreciate you bringing the local community together in this way.
To every school, club and partner who’s trusted us with your gear: thank you. You’ve backed us when it mattered, and we will keep showing up for you with that same energy.
To the team: you are the heartbeat of this business. You’ve helped turn a backyard idea into a national brand. This award is yours too.
To Nath’s and Damo’s families: thank you for the early support from the very beginning.
A family-run business comes with pressure, sacrifice, and plenty of moments where the lines between work and home blur. You’ve been there through it all. We couldn’t have built Indigo Wolf without you. You are the backbone of what we do.
